Within the context of increasing the value of the Cheese Valleys heritage, there are numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the awareness of the richness of the dairy, food and agricultural products to the market operators and the end consumer.

BERGAMO

AGRICULTURAL G7

Held on 14 and 15 October 2017, the Agricultural G7 was the occasion to host, in some of the most beautiful venues of the city, the summit of the ministers of the seven most developed countries in the world, on the theme of the challenges facing the planet in the agricultural and nutrition spheres.

AGRITRAVEL FAIR

The first international salon focusing on the promotion of slow and rural tourism which includes both an exhibition area of great impact aimed at the general public with no entry fee, and an area reserved for B2B for the business sector.

GOURMARTE

An event created to “explore” the taste planet and the food excellences of the Lombardy representing a journey in the discovery of flavors and culinary secrets of Master chefs.

ASTINO – BIODIVERSITY VALLEY

An open air museum filled with precious flora where one can study the conservation of botanical collections which communicate the relationship between man and plants. A space which educates one on sustainability and contributes to the harmony between Man – Agriculture – Nature, starting from the local context.

PASTORALISM FESTIVAL

An event aimed at diffusing the knowledge of pastoral systems in the Lombardy Alpine areas, with emphasis on the Orobic area, and the awareness of their historical, ecological, cultural, agricultural – food and economic values.

BERGAMO STREET FOOD FESTIVAL

An event aimed at discovering and tasting of typical local dishes as well as many countries around the world which can help spread the finest cullinary traditions of each country.

FOOD FILM FEST

International cinematic and food Festival aimed at spreading a knowledgable nutritional culture by virtue of an International Cinematographic competition.

LANDSCAPE MASTERS

An initiative promoting nature and beauty and all that surrounds it in an open-air calendar dedicated to landscape and outdoor design architecture. 18 Days to discover, learn, try and immerge oneself in the many possible landscapes, also thanks to the eductaional activities for children and adults. Open to experts and aficionados of all ages, this event offers conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, shows, competitions, tasting sessions and laboratories.

BERGAMO GREEN

The portal that publishes on the web the knowledge between producers and consumers, shows the best practices to be followed, gives information about local markets and relates to the scholastic world in order to give visibility to the Bergamo Province producers, the distribution and consumption of sustainable, local, organic 0km and brief food chain products.

AGRICULTURAL BIODISTRICT

The Bio-District is both an agricultural area within which certified organic operate, as well as a sustainable development model which involves all the local communities which want to produce respecting the environment and its resources. In these Bio-Districts the production and sale of organic products is closely linked to the territory and a green lifestyle.

OL DISNA’ PROJECT

This project involves the delivery of 220 meals a day throughout the city, totalling 80.000 per annum, to assist the many needy persons, especially the elderly, disabled and less fortunate members of the community.

STRACCIATELLA

A project created to promote “Stracciatella”, an ice cream born in Bergamo in 1961, whose ingredients and production process, picked within a production discipline, make it have a unique taste, copied throughout the world.

SLOW FOOD LAND MARKET

A mix of about 35 products, of different typologies, all from the province of Bergamo and of nearby Slow Food protectorates. These include short food chain products such as fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, goat and cow cheeses, artisinal bread with the finest quality flours, honey and chocolate, aromatic herb drinks, fresh meat and cold cuts, wine and preserves.

FORME PROJECT

Forme – Bergamo European Cheese Capital is a project aimed at enhancing and promoting at international level the entire cheese and dairy sector and beyond. Four days of initiatives, exhibition-markets, workshops and meetings with the general public and the market operators in the spectacular Bergamo High City setting and the showgrounds. The 2019 edition boasts the WORLD CHEESE AWARDS, the oscars of the cheese industry which for the first time in Italy, will award prizes to the best of nore than 3.470 cheeses and more than 2.500 companies from 41 countries.

October 2019 will introduce the first edition of B2Cheese, an International cheese salon, ehibition which focuses solely on operators in the sector and producers, refiners, packagers and related companies (food tech, logistics, consultants, international distributors and the like.

BREMBANA VALLEY

SERINA ZOOTECHNICS FAIR

An important and historical event in the Serina Valley, the Fair features a competition of the Bruna bovine breed which has been organized and proposed for more than 90 years by the Serina Valley Association for the promotion of agriculture and zootechnics.

CASARO HERBS

Review dedicated to the free growing herbs and typical cheeses of the Brembana Valley: a trip into nature, flavors, burroughs and traditions all held in the open air.

SAN MATTEO FAIR

The first recorded news related to this fair date back to the 1700s, but it is more than likely that this event was already taking place in the Middle Ages when Branzi was the meeting point between the herdsmen and traders. After a period of decline, the San Matteo Association – Three Lordships restored it to its original splendor transforming it into an event capable of perfectly combining wine-gastronomy and dairy traditions as an optimum promotion of the territory.

STABELLO TARAGNA FAIR

One of the most famous fairs in the Brembana Valley in honor of the traditional Bergamasca cuisine, but with emphasis on the “taragna” polenta, where the polenta is mixed with local cheeses and butter, accompanied by wild boar or deer meat, skewers and typical sausages.

SASSINA VALLEY

THE VALLEY OF CHEESES

From 2018, there has been a dense schedule of fairs, meetings, visits to dairy producers and tasing in mountain areas under thr auspices of an initiative aimed at enhancing and promoting the history and traditions of the dairy-cheese food chain and the cheeses of Valsassina, an agricultural-food sector which has formed the backbone of the traditional local economy.

PASTURO ZOOTECHNICS FAIR

This traditional event is organized by the Valsassina Mountain Community with initiatives and activities linked to the centuries old zootechnical fair, meetings, forest machinery and many other aspects of local agriculture, the sale of typical local products and crafts markets.

SERIANA VALLEY

OROBIC GOAT FAIR

This is a very popular event with numerous visitors and breeders from the whole of the Bergamo Province, from the Camonica and Sassina Valleys, born of the desire on the part of the local young breeders to pass on their passion for this ancient trade to future generations.
